Terms of Service

By using Scribeus (the Service), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

Scribeus is a free, browser-based text-to-speech tool that converts written English text into synthesized audio using the Kokoro-82M AI model. The Service is provided by RuntimeHub, a free tools project based in Romania.

2. Acceptable use

You may use Scribeus for personal, educational, creative, and commercial projects, subject to the following restrictions. You agree not to use the Service to:

• Generate audio intended to deceive, defraud, or impersonate any person without their consent (voice cloning of real individuals).
• Produce content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or otherwise harmful to third parties.
• Circumvent, overload, or interfere with the operation of the Service or any CDN or infrastructure it depends on.
• Automate mass requests in a manner inconsistent with normal human use of a browser-based tool.

3. Intellectual property

Scribeus uses the Kokoro-82M model, which is distributed under the Apache 2.0 License. ONNX Runtime Web is used under the MIT License. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to synthesize any text you input — including copyright clearance for third-party content.

Audio generated by Scribeus is derived from the Kokoro model (Apache 2.0). You may use generated audio for personal or commercial purposes in accordance with that license.

4. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. RuntimeHub makes no representations about the accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose of the Service. Audio quality may vary depending on input text, device hardware, and browser capabilities.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RuntimeHub shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

6. Modifications to the Service or Terms

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may update these Terms at any time; the effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict of law principles.
